In TCM, cinnamon is one of the most warming botanicals, used to support circulation, digestive discomfort, and bring the body into seasonal alignment. Ceylon is the variety Dr. Lindsey chose specifically for its safety profile at daily therapeutic doses.

Poria works gently to drain excess dampness from the body, the seasonal pattern Dr. Lindsey sees most in her patients every fall. Calming to the digestive system without being aggressive or depleting.

As pet parents, we often overlook daily stressors that compromise our dogs' internal balance and eventually their health, which is why I thoughtfully selected these natural ingredients to help maintain their resilience.

Botanical Bones Pumpkin Spice is our seasonal dog treat built for fall, made to support the spleen and stomach system according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It's a digestive support dog treat that pairs poria, a mushroom used extensively in Chinese herbal medicine, with fiber-rich pumpkin and warming Ceylon cinnamon. It's designed to help your dog through the fall season, when digestive systems benefit from extra grounding, and it plays on the same cozy flavors people love in a pumpkin spice latte. Unlike our year-round formulas, it's available for a limited time each fall.

Each treat contains 577 mg of organic pumpkin for fiber, 60 mg of organic poria for its grounding, digestion-supporting properties, and 30 mg of organic Ceylon cinnamon for warming support.

These are measured, consistent doses in every treat, not just ingredients listed for marketing purposes. The full ingredient list is organic oat flour, organic peanut butter, organic pumpkin, organic chia seeds, organic coconut oil, organic flaxseed, organic poria, and organic Ceylon cinnamon. Contains peanut and oat.

We recommend 1 treat per 15 pounds of body weight per day. As with our other formulas, we recommend consistent daily use since the active ingredients work best with regular dosing rather than occasional use.

If you're combining Pumpkin Spice with other treats or formulas, keep total daily treats within about 10 percent of your dog's daily caloric intake.

Most cinnamon sold commercially, including what's typically used in human pumpkin spice products, is cassia cinnamon. Cassia contains meaningfully higher levels of coumarin, a compound processed by the liver that can be a concern with regular, ongoing consumption, particularly for smaller-bodied animals receiving it daily.

Ceylon cinnamon, sometimes called true cinnamon, contains significantly less coumarin. Since Pumpkin Spice is meant for consistent daily use, we chose Ceylon specifically to minimize that concern. Because we use cinnamon at an active dose rather than only for flavor, the distinction matters.

Poria, also known as Fu Ling in Chinese medicine, is a mushroom that grows on the roots of pine trees and has been used in Chinese herbal formulas for centuries. It's one of the most foundational herbs in TCM, appearing in a wide range of classical formulas dating back thousands of years. In TCM, poria is valued for its ability to help the body drain excess dampness and support the spleen's role in digestion, and it's considered a gentle, grounding herb that supports the body without being aggressive or depleting. Dr. Lindsey chose poria because it's one of the most time-tested herbs in Chinese medicine for digestive support, and she wanted to bring that legacy into a formula dogs would genuinely love eating.

In TCM, a framework that has guided health and wellness practices for over two thousand years, each season corresponds to specific organ systems. Fall is associated with the Earth element, which governs the spleen and stomach.

This is a time when digestive function benefits from extra support as the body adjusts to shifting temperature, humidity, and daylight. It's a framework integrative veterinarians use to think about seasonal patterns in animal health, the same way conventional medicine tracks seasonal patterns in allergies or joint pain. Pumpkin Spice was formulated specifically to support dogs through this fall transition.

In TCM, dampness describes a sluggish, stagnant quality in the body. It's a diagnostic pattern practitioners use to identify imbalance, not a Western medical diagnosis. Signs associated with a damp pattern include loose stool, sluggish digestion, lower energy, and a general heaviness or lack of vitality.

Poria has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries specifically to help the body drain excess dampness and restore digestive balance. Pumpkin Spice is not formulated to treat or cure any specific medical condition, and any persistent or concerning symptoms should always be evaluated by your veterinarian.

Both formulas support digestive health, but they're built for different purposes, and they work great together. Inner Glow is a year-round formula focused on the liver and gut connection, using dandelion root, chaga, and ginger to support ongoing digestive function. Pumpkin Spice is a seasonal treat that targets fall through the lens of TCM's spleen and stomach system, with poria as the defining ingredient and a cozy, seasonal flavor.

There's no overlap concern between the two. Many customers give Inner Glow year-round and layer in Pumpkin Spice during the fall. Think of Inner Glow as your dog's everyday digestive and liver foundation, with Pumpkin Spice as targeted seasonal support. You can also feed Pumpkin Spice alongside your dog's other formulas, such as Balance + Calm during the fall transition. Just keep total daily treats within the 10 percent calorie guideline across everything you're feeding, and split doses between formulas based on your dog's weight and needs.

Pumpkin Spice is a functional treat. It's baked and tastes like a treat your dog will beg for, and every treat contains measured amounts of pumpkin, poria, and Ceylon cinnamon, not trace amounts added for a label.

Dr. Lindsey built it this way because compliance is the biggest obstacle in herbal medicine: a supplement your dog won't eat doesn't help them.

Yes. Pumpkin Spice is 100 percent plant-based and free from wheat, soy, corn, and dairy, and it's formulated to be appropriate across breeds and life stages.

It does contain peanut butter and oat flour. As always, if your dog has a specific health condition or is on medication, we recommend checking with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplement or treat.
